David Hockney creates hand-drawn art on Apple's iPad

Not content with pushing the boundaries of conventional art in the 60s, David Hockney is doing much the same in 2010, creating 'digi-art' on the Apple iPad.

So what's that then? Well, from his bedroom is sunny Bridlington, he uses his fingers to 'paint' artwork on Apple's latest must-have gadget, sending out the finished work via email. Just think, an original Hockney in your inbox. It could be your nest egg for a comfortable retirement.

David Hockney exhibition at Nottingham Contemporary

The new Nottingham Contemporary is hosting an exhibition of David Hockney's early works. The exhibition entitled David Hockney 1960 - 1968: A Marriage of Styles features works from his early years in London and Los Angeles that have not been shown together for nearly 40 years.

Hockney was at the forefront of avant-garde in the 60s and was as a well know public figure even then, famous for his look of bleach blonde hair and distinctive round glasses.

This exhibition features work showing the multitude of styles he was experimenting with, from early work such as Doll Boy, Cliff Richard to his later LA based work capturing swimming pools, and male sunbathers.

The exhibition runs until 24 January 2010 so you have lots of time to pay a visit to Nottingham.
