Classic Faber & Faber book covers as art prints

Wire1

Originally designed to get the books leaping off the shelf, the artwork of Faber & Faber book covers has become classic in its own right. Enough for fine art publisher Wire-Frame to produce them as large-scale prints.

The man behind the artwork is Bertold Wolpe, who joined the company as art director in 1941, casting a distinctive shadows over the company's artwork for 30 years after. The lettering and typography you see on the most famous covers is all his work.

Some of his finest work was in the 1960s, which coincidentally, is the material reproduced for the prints. See above and below to see what it looks like, with TS Eliot's 'Dante', Brian Aldiss's 'Non-Stop', Samuel Beckett's 'Endgame' and Philip Larkin's 'A Girl in Winter' the titles reissued.

Each print measures 46 x 34 cm and is printed on matt 310 gsm fine art paper using pigment-based lightfast inks. The price is £70 unframed or £125 framed, glazed and ready-to-hang in a choice of white or black frame.
