Grayson Perry Scarf at Tate Online

This colourful scarf from Grayson Perry is the latest addition to the range of exclusive artist's products at the Tate Gallery shop.

The design of the scarf takes a tour through the world of modern art with beautiful detail. The scarf is inspired by the silk maps that Second World War pilots were given to help them escape if they landed in enemy territory, but Perry's map is intended to guide young artists rather than pilots.

The routes & landmarks shown on the map include 'networking, inspirational teacher, solo show and sex, drugs and rock and roll' with the destination being financial success.

The scarf would look great framed and at £63.61, could actually be considered quite reasonably priced for an artwork. Find out more at the Tate.

Walking in my mind - Hayward Gallery exhibition

The Walking in My Mind exhibition at the Hayward Gallery is your chance to see at first hand the work of Yayoi Kusama and feel what it is like to be in her polka dot filled world.

Kusama who was 80 this year has used polka dots as her main motif throughout her career, and the dots are the manifestation of hallucinations she has suffered since a child. Her room installation pictured above features sculptures covered in dots, in a room also covered with her trade mark dots.

The exhibition actually features ten artists: Charles Avery, Thomas Hirschhorn, Bo Christian Larsson, Mark Manders, Yoshitomo Nara, Jason Rhoades, Pipilotti Rist, Chiharu Shiota, Keith Tyson and Kusama. Each artist has created their mental space and you are free to explore them all for only £9. However if you visit the site you can even get a Friday night 2 for 1 voucher.

William Shatner, Intergalactic Love God print by Nick Dewar

This amusingly entitled William Shatner, Intergalactic Love God print was actually produced for an exhibition in Canada containing 76 images inspired by the life and career of Shatner. Artist Nick Dewar has plumped for the golden era of Captain James T. Kirk picking font and distinctive imagery to match up with the Shatner era he is depicting. 

It measures 18 by 24 inches and is available in green or yellow from Dewar’s site, costing $50.

Poulier and Poulier Tram Destination Print

Poulier and Poulier are husband and wife design team, Mark and Lisa Poulier who share a love of typography. Their current screenprinted collection includes a series of prints based on vintage Tram Destinations Blinds.

The prints are based on original “W Class” Melbourne tram destination blinds, dating back to around 1960. They have been printed to replicate the authentic typography of that era. There are four designs measuring 56 x 76cm priced around Aus $60 (around £30) and two large “elephant” size (56 x 150cm) costing just under Aus $100 (around £50)
